Kyle - A Little Town That's Future Bound

Kyle, Texas borders it's neighbor Buda, Texas. While both are incorporated cities, many locals refer to them as "Buda/Kyle".

Kyle, with over 14,500 residents, 21 residential communities, and an additional 10,000 platted lots on the way, is the second largest city in Hays County. Kyle is eight miles north of San Marcos, Texas and 20 miles south of Austin.

The town was established on July 24, 1880. David E. Moore and Fergus Kyle (for whom the city was named) gave 200 acres for a townsite to the International-Great Northern Railroad. In October 1880, lots were first sold at an auction held beneath a live oak tree, now known as the Kyle Auction Oak.

In 1895 voters incorporated Kyle, Texas. However, an election two years later discontinued the status. In 1906, it was incorporated again. Farming and ranching add to the economy of other businesses in this fast growing community.
