Have a "Budaful Time" in Buda, Texas

Buda, Texas borders it's neighbor Kyle, Texas. While both are incorporated cities, many locals refer to them as "Buda/Kyle"

Buda, Texas, a friendly, relaxing town, is well known for its antique downtown shopping in the original buildings.

Buda enjoys the quality of life available only in a small town, while being 15-20 minutes from downtown Austin.

Buda was formally established on April 1, 1881, when Cornelia Trimble donated land for a townsite at an International-Great Northland Railroad depot. Buda had earlier been settled as part of a Mexican land grant.

Many believe that the name is derived from the Spanish word, viuda, which means widow.

The town had gathered a reputation as a popular eating stop for rail travelers and the name may refer to a pair of widows who cooked at the eatery in the late 1800s.

Buda Growth

Buda, Texas' growth has paralleled Austin's since the 1980s.

Cabela's opened on June 30, 2005. The giant outdoors store is expected to make Buda one of the state's top tourist destinations. Plans call for two hotels, a movie theater, at least eight restaurants, and dozens of additional retail stores.
