Kerrville-Schreiner Park

Kerrville-Schreiner Park is a 517.2-acre area along the Guadalupe River, located three miles southeast of Kerrville in Kerr County. It is operated by the City of Kerrville.

The park was acquired in 1934 by deed of the City of Kerrville.

Original park construction was done by the Civilian Conservation Corps. This park was formerly operated by TPWD and is now operated by the City of Kerrville.

Activities

Activities include boating, fishing, picnicking, camping, swimming, hiking, bird watching, walking and cycling. The park rents tubes and canoes year-round.

Flora and Fauna

The park offers a representative sampling of Hill Country landscape, with acres of juniper, live oak and Spanish oak populating the hills and arroyos.

Other plants include redbud, sumac, buckeye, pecan, mesquite and several varieties of flowers. The Texas bluebonnet is one of the most plentiful and colorful of the native plants.

White-tailed deer, whose prevalence have made the Hill Country popular as a hunting area, abound in the park.

The park also has squirrels, armadillos, turkeys, jackrabbits, mallard ducks and many species of birds.

Fish to catch in the Guadalupe River are crappie, perch, catfish and bass.

Directions

The Kerrville-Schreiner Park can be reached by traveling three miles southeast of Kerrville on Texas 16 to Texas 173. Follow Texas 173 for three miles. The park entrance is located on the left side of the road.

Schedule Information

The park is open seven days a week year-round, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Gates are open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Busy Season: March through Thanksgiving. Camping fees vary, and there is an entrance fee. For reservations, call (512) 389-8900.
